On March 9, I searched online for the credit bureau Experian to unlock my credit file so someone could check my score, which is exceptional. I thought that was who I talked to when I called the number on the internet listing that "appeared" to be Experian but was not. The man who answered my call didn't tell me he was NOT with Esperian, and instead proceeded to ask for me my personal identifying information. Then he told me there were important mistakes in my credit file that needed to be removed--my valid former address and the address of my grown daughter. I found out later these are not mistakes, but the man from Credit Clerk misled me into giving him my credit card--not just once, but he asked me for a second credit card--which he said were needed to fix my Experian credit report and remove the addresses for a required $99. Since I thought he really was from Experian, I believed him and was then scammed. He also took my information and gave it to another company called Standard Scores, which charged one of my credit cards. When I saw the charges from BOTH companies on my two Chase credit cards, I called my credit card company, and I also checked the fraudulent companies on the Better Business Bureau. I was so upset. There were LOTS of other recent complaints from people like me who thought they were speaking to Experian but were instead talking to an unethical sales rep from Credit Clerk. What a dishonest organization taking advantage of older people! I am a Chase Private Client. Chase is disputing this charge to my card and are investigating this company. I will also be contacting my state's attorney general.
