Contacted these people in relation to a sexual offence. First woman I spoke with frustrated the hell out of me by asking for info I had already given, to the extent I told her that I was starting to regret making the call. Her response was "to feel free to contact the police on 101" defeating the point of these people even existing. I asked to speak with a manager who, although the info was on the screen in front of her, automatically jumped to the conclusion the offender was Asian. Even to me as a white man something that felt very racist. It became obvious that the first woman was being trained on the job after her manager told me she was sitting by her during the call. Surely due to the serious nature of the some calls they'll receive, they should be fully trained before taking any calls at all. Please don't let this post put you off reporting a crime, that's not my intention. This is here to make you aware that you might speak to someone untrained & come up against unsavoury behavior, even from a manager who should know better. Hopefully someone from the organisation reads this & resolves the issues internally. There are clear issues that need to addressed.
