We rented a motorhome from Cruise America for the second time. The first experience was already bad: leaking toilet, sinks, and kitchen, a broken entry door, a loose mirror, and the RV was not self-contained. But at least the engine worked. This time was a total failure.Right from the start, the water pump didn’t work, then the toilet leaked during driving, all the way to the front cabin. Shortly after that, the engine broke down.We were stranded in a small town in Idaho – with no electricity, no gas, and no transportation. No Uber, no public transport, and no one-way rental cars nearby. We had to ask around in the town for help, until someone offered to drive us – after three full days – to the only available rental car several hours away, at a very high price. Our planned camping trip with reserved National Park campgrounds was ruined. Some reservations couldn’t be canceled. We had to reorganize the whole trip, book overpriced hotels on short notice (peak season), and throw away all groceries since the gas was out and there was no cooling. We ended up with thousands of euros in extra costs.Cruise America offered zero support. There was no dedicated contact person – just a rotating stream of customer service agents reading pre-written responses.Polite, but completely useless. They’re not the problem – they’re part of a system designed to avoid all responsibility.Bottom line:Two rentals – two disasters. This time, with serious financial consequences.Cruise America? Never again.
