Bramble Cottage was small but beautifully formed, very neat and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the welcome pack (bread, butter etc) was a lovely idea. However, when we arrived at the cottage the heating hadn't been put on and it was baltic inside. We did put it on but the cottage, being made of stone, took over 12 hours to heat. We sat on the sofa covered in our coats and throws until finally giving in and got into bed just to keep warm. There was a beautiful bathroom with a huge bath which I was looking forward to after a long, cold days walking but unfortunately the hot water ran tepid at most. Very disappointing. Although the shower was hot and powerful. I did speak to the representative from Cumbrian Cottages who explained that the cottage had not been occupied for many weeks and the caretaker should have put the heating on. If we hadn't have been so tired after a 5 hour journey we would have returned home.
