Misleading, Unfair, and Exploitative Bankruptcy TrusteeI regret ever trusting this firm with my bankruptcy. I was promised from the start that my monthly surplus payment would be $225 — and I based my budget and planning around that. I later got a temporary job for a few months, and when I was terminated and began receiving EI, I contacted the trustee immediately. I was shocked when they demanded over $1000 from my limited EI income, claiming I had been moved to a 21-month surplus repayment plan — something I was never clearly informed of, nor did I agree to.They never provided proper written notice of this change, no updated budget review, and no chance to dispute or understand the new calculations. I was simply sent a link to pay a huge amount of money I cannot afford. This is not only misleading — it feels predatory. I kept my end of the agreement, reported all income changes, and acted in good faith. They used my temporary job as an excuse to squeeze money from me now that I’m unemployed again.This trustee firm is supposed to help people rebuild, not punish them for trying to work and get back on their feet. I strongly advise others to stay away and choose a firm that will actually communicate, act ethically, and follow the bankruptcy rules in Canada.
