Good explanation of the system by Oliver in the sales meeting. Actual installation took two days. Great job by Ben & Spencer on electricals and Stuart & Paul on roofwork. The scaffold was up a few days in advance and afterwards, total 8 days, which I gather is about normal, but bear that in mind if you don't like to leave a house unattended when it's covered in scaffolding. Ours survived Storm Goretti, so was obviously solid (even if the team did damage my cherry tree when they dismantled it!).I like the fact that the whole team are part of DES (except the scaffolders who were MM Scaffolding in my case), so you just have one point of contact both before and after installation. Documentation was comprehensive and timely, including all the necessary certificates.When trying to assess the payback it helps to understand discounted cash flow and do your own calculations. Simply dividing the price of the system by the annual savings will give an artificially short payback period. There are inevitably many major assumptions in the illustrations in the sales pack, which could affect payback by many years. Whether the system will increase the value of your house is also a matter of opinion.You need to make sure you get on an appropriate tariff. Oliver was supposed to contact me after the installation to give guidance on this, but never did. However, it didn't matter, because ours is a Fox system (battery plus inverter) and I can highly recommend the "TonyM1958 FoxESS-Cloud" page on the github website: (sorry, Trustpilot won't let me paste a link) for fantastic guidance on understanding and using the Fox app and even programming the system yourself if you want.We're on Octopus and can recommend them. They have tariffs specifically designed for solar systems. You get paid for exporting excess energy to the grid. This takes a few weeks to kick in. Ours hasn't yet, but everything else is looking good. Even in January we have been exporting quite a bit to the grid, and the battery charging/discharging and all other aspects of the system seem to be working very well.
