We ordered a 14-lb organic turkey directly from the seller's website, advertised at $110, which is significantly higher than what we typically pay for a quality turkey. Based on the glowing reviews, we were excited for what we hoped would be the best turkey ever. Having roasted turkeys for over forty years, we consider ourselves quite adept at preparing them. First, the turkey arrived unexpectedly a week before Thanksgiving instead of on the selected date, left at our front door without prior notice. Thankfully, it was still frozen and well-packaged. On Thanksgiving morning, after dry-brining it for 48 hours and letting it rest for an hour, we placed it in our gas oven, filled with fresh limes, herbs, seasoning, walnut oil, and butter. After three hours at 350°F, we were thrilled to take out a beautifully golden turkey, allowing it to rest for 30 minutes before carving. Unfortunately, as we began to carve, we discovered it was incredibly tough, making it difficult to separate it from the bone. We ultimately had to immerse the turkey in a large pot of organic chicken broth to tenderize it enough to eat. Even after this, the meat remained tough and unusually fibrous, to the point where we often had to remove it from our mouths instead of swallowing. The next day, we reached out to the seller with a detailed letter and photos, understanding that issues can arise. Sadly, they showed no interest in replacing the inedible turkey. This lack of response from a family-owned business regarding a genuine complaint was surprising. I noticed they are now selling the same turkey for $185 on their website. I doubt my detailed experience will be acknowledged there.
