Discovery Voyage was thrilling

Discovery Voyage was thrilling, educational and fun! It was our first trip to Alaska. My hope was to see glaciers. We got that, and so much more! Captain Dean, Megan and their staff Tori and Lana are naturalists and amazing! We instantly felt comfortable. Megan is also a superb chef. Our fellow travelers were great to be around while we enjoyed the hikes, kayaking and one of the most exciting moments was when we all witnessed from the deck the calving of a glacier. Lots of “wows!” It was only a few days, but we created the best memories.

Business Details

  • Offering high quality 3 - 6 day cruises with a maximum of 12 guests on the historic Discovery in beautiful Prince William Sound, Alaska (just south of the largest Alaskan city, Anchorage). We do offer a handful of trips that incorporate Denali National Park as well.
Prince William Sound encompasses 3,800 miles of coastline to explore via kayak and foot. The Sound is home to the densest concentration of tidewater glaciers in the world, containing 50 glaciers and 17 tidewater glaciers (touching the ocean), known for dramatically calving huge ice chunks into the sea. Enjoy spectacular views from sea level up to 13,000 ft mountain peaks.

More than 220 species of birds (and around 200,000 seabirds summer in the Sound), along with 30 species of land mammals, and at least a dozen marine mammal species make this area quite special. Resident marine mammals include humpback, sei, fin, minke, killer whales, and dall's porpoise as well as Steller sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters. In western Prince William Sound, black bears may be seen on narrow beaches and are most often seen fishing when the salmon are spawning. See more
