I don't know why I am having an overwhelming number of negative experiences with perfume companies. Perhaps, I buy too much.
The latest horrible customer service experience/fraud is with Divain USA. They are actually a company based in Spain. I didn't know that before placing my order.
I don't know how they even found out about me but they have been spamming my email for a long time with a plethora of loss leader baiting specials. They finally sent one that caught my interest. $8 per perfume clearance special on 100ml bottles. Sounds like a phenomenal deal right?
I chose several that I thought I might like. Of course, they had "bait you to order more" free items. I ended up spending $88 on thirteen items including the two free items.
Somehow they added an item that I had looked at but didn't wan't. I thought that considering there was an option to swap items, I would find one that I did want instead of trying for a refund of that item. Then I noticed that they removed an item that I did want. I decided to swap for that item. I also checked their return policy.
There is an option to swap but no option to confirm the swap. This is by design. There is no human interface. The AI keeps churning out the same regurgitated message, "Some one will get back to you really soon".
I had finally had it after going through this for almost two hours. I started reading recent reviews of the company here on Trustpilot. All were negative. I freaked out. I went to Reddit forums and learned from someone who previously worked for Divain that they were re-positioning their marketing and introducing new bottles again. The so-called $8 each promotion was carefully designed to get rid of all of the old bottles. They filled them with very very diluted versions of the fragrances. Now, I am livid. That is "theft by deception".
I chose the "cancel order" option. The reply was "do you really want to cancel?" I replied, "Yes". The same thing happened. They repititively sent a regurgitated message saying, "a member of the team is already on this and will contact you very soon".
After going through this over and over again with each of my messages, I was even more furious. I told them to NOT ship my order without talking to me first because there was zero human interface which makes my very uncomfortable. They still have not responded. They did not switch the item that they forced upon me for the item that they removed. They have a zero return policy. All of this together is internet fraud.
Oddly, they have quite a few good reviews previous to this year. My experience tells me that they are likely going out of business and milking guillable customer until the milk runs dry.
I am going to contact Paypal and my bank and initiate a chargeback on the basis of internet fraud (theft by deception). I am also going to report them to the Federal Trade Commision and Better Buisiness Bureau.
I suggest everyone else do the same thing.
