I came into Jiffy Lube because earlier that day I accidentally pushed down on the the gas pedal while in park and a few minutes later the exhaust/muffler had black smoke come out..went inside work and would deal with it as I left work…smoke wasn’t that dark this time, and my mechanic was on vacation so panic set in and there was nowhere near but Jiffy…I asked of why my muffler was having black smoke…they at Jiffy Lube couldn’t come up with an exact reason as to why the black smoke seemed to have subsided while they looked at my car so instead of having me go on my way…all of a sudden now I need Two Back Tires (even after I said that I had a tire store that I went to and Jay was a good salesperson to insist that I should get them there at Jiffy Lube) and the next day I unfortunately found out that I needed Calibers after my brakes went out on the road while I was driving….YEP I had to veer into Lowe’s parking lot and to hit a speed bump in order to slow down to a stop and to where Jay told me to drive there so they can check it out…I refused of course then he had his brake specialist drive his van to the Lowe’s Parking lot and we switched vehicles (I drove the mechanics vehicles she drove mine back to Jiffy Lube).
With all of the car repair costs came to $2280 and some change…which I just found out that technically it came to just a little over $5,000 for Rental (as Bruce from Easy Pay Leasing stated…) more than my 2014 Kia Soul is even worth!!!
So I asked him “basically I’m renting brakes, pads, calibers, and two back tires…at an ending amount of just over $5,000.00?…he then said yes, but if I wanted to pay off the balance that they can give me a 20% off price if I agreed to pay off the balance now.
I say all of this, because companies know that you’re either trying to build your credit or keep your credit stable and they prey on people’s panic like when their vehicles need repair.
My advice is for you to read the fine print out of all of the pages and do NOT let a salesperson of any establishment rush or guide you in believing that this Easy Pay Leasing is the best way…I’ve paid 15 payments twice a month (every two weeks except the month of October 2025 which had three 2 week payments)of 160.99 (original $150.99, but of course there is a fee to that also)…I have 15 more payments to go even though I’ve paid for the repairs and labor…now I’m paying for the “Rental” of New Brakes, Pads, Calibers, and Two Back Tires…just be careful.
