I began training at the Eddie Kone Jiu Jitsu Academy in January of 2020. After 20-odd years of training in just about every other martial art under the sun (starting as a kid at the school Karate club and experimenting with Wing Chun, Muay Thai, boxing, traditional Japanese Jujutsu and spending several years training at Shaolin Temple UK), I had my first experience of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at another martial arts academy in North London and, like most people, was immediately stunned by its potency as a fighting system. I quickly decided to commit fully to learning the art, but was frustrated at the lack of a structured syllabus or any teaching of the fundamentals at the school I was attending. So I went looking for real instruction, and was lucky enough to find myself walking through the door of EKBJJ.From the moment I came in for my first free trial class I was immediately struck by the warm welcome and the feeling of having come home. The Beginner level classes with coaches Dan and Elroy are the perfect introduction to the system; come in as a complete novice and within a few weeks you will walk out with newfound confidence and a set of skills that will improve you in life both physically and mentally.The all-levels classes with Professor Eddie Kone represent quite simply the best education in martial science available anywhere. I've had some truly inspirational teachers, from 6th Dan black belts to real live world-champion Shaolin fighting monks. The Professor puts them all to shame. It's not just his warmth, and his ability to clearly communicate his mind-blowingly detailed knowledge of the art (which comes straight from the source - here you will learn fighting Jiu Jitsu precisely as it was taught to Professor Eddie by the Gracie family themselves); I firmly believe that the measure of a great school is in the conduct of its students, and my fellow students at EKBJJ are the most courteous and mutually-respectful men and women I have ever had the pleasure of training with.I can't put it any simpler than this: if you want to learn to defend yourself, to test and expand your limits, and to find out what you're really capable of with the help of like-minded and respectful friends and training partners, you need to learn Gracie Jiu Jitsu; and that means you need to come and be part of the EKBJJ family. There is simply no better teacher, and there's no better school.
