My daughter attended elevenplusexams tuition for two years, and I can say it has been instrumental in getting her the desired place at one of the top grammar schools in the country and I can say that selecting elevenplusexams is the best choice I made for securing her place for secondary education.I will list down some good points here that are unique to elevenplusexams. I will also list a couple of things that can be improved (but in no way an impediment)The good points first :1. The virtual learning environment provides plenty of questions to practice after attending an in person class in the weekend. Every week for each topic it has tests on newly learned topics as well as revision questions of past topics. The progress of the child can be easily tracked and parents and teaches can clearly see improvement areas (both in accuracy and speed) hence one can pinpoint where to spend efforts rather than wasting time in already strong areas.2. My daughter was offered additional support in weak areas based on less than expected scores in a particular topic (basically additional time of focused tuition), however this can only work with efforts put in by parents (it is a group tuition afterall, so once a weakness is identified, a parent is expected to work towards improvement)my only suggestion is the tuition center can do a better job and give one to one feedback to a parent and give directions3. Mock tests are GREAT. They make a huge difference and are pivotal to the success. These mocks are included in the cource fee (something that you may not get elsewhere). 4. Mock test reports are fantastic and eye opening. The mocks are no good if they don't help identify areas of improvement. The online environment shows very detailed picture of where a child is struggling5. Parent seminars and Parent Mock..a few months before the actual test, a series of seminars were held that gave real insights on exam prep and included a parent mock that gave a first hand feel to the parents on how the actual exam is likeNow for a couple of points where I feel there is a scope for improvement. (but this did not hamper us in any way)1.It would help if for each subject, parents can be given opportunity to talk to the actual teacher directly (in a managed way to avoid over zealous parents from bombarding the teacher with questions)2. Creative writing is not included in the main syllabus coverage (although there are specific sessions held on it, but not sufficient for top schools and this needs more hours of teaching and feedback)
We started our 11+ journey at the start of year 5 from extreme north(Newcastle) with Elevenplus Tuition online platform, we can still remember on day1 induction when the teacher called it out explicitly that this wouldn’t be a journey for the child rather a team effort would be required along with the parents, indeed it was a year long process of learning and evaluation to get ready for the final battle, but the magic happened when this tuition with it’s unique process got you ready even before the exam. We really enjoyed the discipline throughout so we just required to follow their instructions week after week. We then moved down to london area and wrote the exam in councils like Sutton, QE Boys, Essex, Slough and Kent, he qualified in all of them and finally we have got offer from Wilson’s School as our first choice.The success is of course an outcome of the effort but not without the disciplined guidance from the tuition. Eleven Plus Exams helped my child to get into his top school of choice which we could not have achieved without them and he has achieved a high score in all the other exams he has taken. Their resources are really good. They are very similar to the exams, giving the child the experience of having an exam written in an exam environment. It removes the fear from the children and allows them have experience of writing exams.Feedback is brilliant. The children get the results immediately after writing the exams.I have used them previously for another child and they got admission into all the schools we applied to including Henrietta Barnett, plus scholarships at independent schools. I’m using them for another child again and I can see the progress. I would definitely recommend. It gives your child an edge over a lot of people doing same exams.
Our son joined the 11+ course when in Year5. He thoroughly enjoyed it and felt fully challenged to do his best. We thought the course was comprehensive and addressed multiple aspects of education, learning and exam preparation. To start with, the lessons were informative with a gradual progression of topics. The content on the virtual learning platform was excellent with engaging videos and efficient homework to consolidate the learning. The mock tests were representative and helped bring the focus and seriousness needed for the final exam. To top it all, the teachers were very encouraging and our son also enjoyed the one-on-one mentoring and was lucky to get his favourite teacher as his mentor. Additionally, the admin team was also very approachable and courteous during our journey.Our son looked forward to the classes every weekend and missed them a lot when we were done. He did exceptionally in all his exams(grammar/private). Overall, we are extremely happy with Harrow 11+.
