When our son didn’t pass his English GCSE, he told us he’d never be able to. What Laurence has done, above all, is given him the confidence to put pen to paper and have a go. Our son now feels he’ll go into the exam able to pass, which is a great turnaround. The 2 hour sessions involve time for students to work independently. If they are finding something too tricky, they can contact him for more support. Laurence then builds on their work and demonstrates how to develop it effectively. No homework, no dry lists of words to learn (“a simile is…. A metaphor is…” etc.); everything is completed in the session. Our son hasn’t once complained about logging on for it, which is honestly something I would never have predicted. I never watch or listen in so can’t comment on Laurence’s specific style; I just know that it’s working for a reluctant learner. Thanks Laurence.
