Our younger son is best described as lovely, sociable and bright, but also as bored in school and not studious. He had been an enthusaistic and creative writer and voracious reader in primary schoool but, with the constraints of the curriculum and so many other better things to do with his time, once in secondary school he had slipped behind (and, of course, the pandemic did not help). With English being a core subject, and with writing underpinning success in so many other disciplines, we were desperate to get him some help. I found Laurence by luck and we arranged to speak. It was immediately apparent that he totally understood our situation and that he really 'got' our son too. Since then, Laurence has engaged our son in weekly online sessions – and this has given him renewed confidence as a writer and student. We could not have found a more enthusiastic tutor.
