Prepaid €180 for 6 days car hire from Bristol Airport. This was done on the Europcar app. On arrival to collect the car i told the agent "I do not want to take out any further insurance, I just want the basic prepaid cover"Agent asked me to sign paperwork, didn't have a lawyer with me nor time to read small print. All very pleasant, car was lovely, service was good. Assumed I had paid a deposit as led to believe.6 days later return the car, all in order. Asked the same agent when do we get the deposit back, in front of myself and my wife, he states this normally takes 3 - 4 days for funds to clear. Checks bank account, it's pending. 4 days later £264 is taken, literally lifted from my account. Complaint goes in, agent on complaints department said he will do everything to return my money. A few days later case closed, I had signed for and taken out Super Cover Insurance (£264!!!) So after purposely requesting no added insurance it was added. I was scammed for not checking what I had signed, misled into thinking it was a standard deposit. My bank account covers car hire insurance excess so why on earth would I pay extra for it? Outrageous behaviour from Europcar. Case continues
