If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely disgusting customer service. A few days after returning my hire vehicle, I received an email stating it had received fines while I was in my possession. When I viewed the images taken of the vehicle on the fine it was very clear it was not the same vehicle I hired. When I contacted them they were incredibly rude and it was clear they didn’t believe me. I asked for photos of the vehicle I hired as well as proof of the mileage used while it was in my possession. The next day I still had not received any of the proof I had asked for so called them again, this time they provided me with mileage over the phone, I then asked how I could have got from where I hired the car from to where the fines happened to back to the hire place with the mileage they had stated, this was when they finally started taking my claim somewhat seriously. They then informed me that it was probably cloned plates and I needed to contact the police, and continue to fight the fining bodies, as well as, email the fine department, again I asked for the photos of the vehicle I hired. After contacting the local police and then MET police I was informed that no Europcar had to contact them and they should know this. Another call to Europcar where again was made to feel like it was my fault and still no photos. A month, emails and phone calls later I received an email from the fines department saying one of the fines had been cleared as they could see it wasn’t the same car.The next day I received an email from my bank asking me about a suspicious transaction when I checked my account Europcar had taken out the money for the three fines without my authorisation and without contacting me. More phone calls and emails later they finally cleared all fines and returned the money. Would never use again and will be telling everyone of my experience. I never received the photos I asked for and I was the one who was constantly chasing things up. I have not received any offer of compensation for my time and stress it caused having just moved to a new country and not knowing anyone. Thanks for a wonderful warm welcome to the UK Europcar, it was very much appreciated.
