I really wish I’d taken notice of Europcar’s low Trustpilot score before booking, because my experience has sadly lived up to every negative review.I arrived to collect my car and was told I could upgrade for £25. At no point was it made clear that this was £25 per day and would result in several hundred pounds of extra charges. Only when I checked my credit card later did I discover the significant surcharge. When I disputed this, Europcar showed no interest in resolving the issue, gave no credibility to my complaint, and simply pushed the charges through anyway.Worse still, around two weeks after the rental had ended, they debited an additional amount for so-called “damage”. There was absolutely no damage when I returned the vehicle, but of course I can’t prove this after the fact as the drop off was out of hours — and Europcar seems to rely on exactly that. The charge felt completely arbitrary, vindictive, and impossible to challenge.Overall, this has been an extremely disappointing and costly experience. I’ll never use Europcar again and strongly advise others to check reviews before booking.
