Posting this as a warning to other customers of Europcar's Park Royal branch in North West London.Having used this outfit twice, it appears that their usual practice is not to carry out any kind of pre-hire walk around with the customer. On the second of the two occasions I hired a car here, this lack of a pre-hire check was used in an attempt to make me pay for pre-existing damage to the wheel and tyre. The person I handed the car back to spotted this very minor blemish so quickly that I can only assume that they knew it was there and needed someone to pin it on.However, while Europcar doesn't do pre-hire checks, I do and I had photos to prove that the damage was there when I collected the car. The person I handed the car over to couldn't have been less interested in this despite this being an opportunity to wrap things up there and then. He was clearly desperate to pass this up the chain, claiming that he would get in trouble if he didn't.The matter was passed to Europcar's damage team, who are slow, incompetent and impertinent. After almost a month of exchanges, Europcar have gracelessly and grudgingly conceded that they were wrong and I've been informed that I will not be charged for damage that someone else caused.I certainly won't be using this shady outfit again. If you do, I'd strongly advise you to take a comprehensive and clear photographs of every aspect of the car, interior as well as exterior photographs. Time stamp them if possible. If I hadn't done this I'd have been a few hundred pounds out of pocket.
