Congratulations, Eventbrite! Another one star review to add to your growing collection.

My wife and I attend a lot of smaller - venue Rock gigs. We always buy e-tickets online from whichever third party ticket seller the venue nominates, and usually pay via PayPal. We have never had any issue with this.... Until we had the misfortune to use Eventbrite for the first time. I purchased two tickets for a gig at a total cost of £35.26 including booking fees. Some 5 days, later I noticed my bank balance was lower than expected. Upon checking, I found that Eventbrite had charged me £35.26 at 10.01 and £35.26 at 10.21 on the same day, both via PayPal. Incidentally, only two tickets were sent to me via email (which is correct.) I attempted to get an answer on how to get a refund for the second charge through Eventbrite's deliberately confusing FAQs, only to be advised not to worry if I see two charges on my bank statement, that it doesn't mean I've been charged twice, it supposedly means the first attempt was declined. Well, this was not the case. My PayPal account definitely shows two charges, 20 minutes apart, and my bank account definitely shows two debits of £35.26 each to Eventbrite via PayPal. I contacted Eventbrite's customer service department, who responded quickly saying they would investigate, and asked me to provide screenshots of the booking, my bank statement, my PayPal statement, details of the venue, details of the artist, date, time, website, etc etc etc. all of which I immediately sent. I have heard absolutely nothing since. I am now going to have to try and get my refund through PayPal. The thing I'm really worried about if I do go through PayPal, though, is if Eventbrite cancels our e-tickets, without our knowledge. We have booked a hotel for the night of the gig, and have to travel a good distance to attend. If we get to the venue and can't get in, we stand to lose a lot of money. Our advice to anyone who chooses to buy tickets through Eventbrite is DON'T DO IT! Take a look at all the bad reviews on this site and steer well clear.
