If your student plans to attend…

My experience with Excel High School has been extremely disappointing, especially for families with students planning to attend college. My daughter completed her coursework early so she could apply to the college she has dreamed of attending since 10th grade. What should have been an exciting milestone turned into weeks of unnecessary stress and delays.I had to call the school repeatedly just to get her teacher and counselor references submitted. Once that was finally resolved, we were told her transcript would not be sent to the college because she does not have a state ID. This requirement was never mentioned before, and it contradicts what staff told me earlier — that as long as my balance was paid in full, her transcript would be released. I paid the balance immediately, only to be told afterward that an ID was still required. In my state, getting a state ID requires an appointment, and without a school-issued ID, we are struggling to obtain one. The earliest appointment is weeks away. Meanwhile, my daughter’s college cannot make an admissions decision without her transcript, and Excel High School refuses to send it. As a parent, it is incredibly frustrating to watch my child’s future be jeopardized over something that should not be an obstacle.I have worked in the school system for years and have never seen a school withhold transcripts in a way that could cause a student to lose their place at a college. A copy of my ID should have been more than sufficient, especially since the school had no issue accepting my payments for two years without requiring one.Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Excel High School to families whose students plan to pursue higher education. The lack of communication, inconsistent requirements, and disregard for the impact on students’ futures have been deeply disappointing.
