I recently taught a PMP exam prep instructor-led class to a small audience of professionals who manage projects for a home improvement company in West Hartford. I thought it to be a fantastic opportunity to introduce the Agile mindset by conducting the course as a project and listing all the course activities in a Product Backlog of a Kanban Board. Listed were the six lessons, the specialty courses, videos, and a sampling of test questions. This provided for the interactivity a sprint team would have so we behaved like a team in completing the activities. There had to be a consensus on the refinement of the backlog each day and there was always applause when we moved activities to the done column. By the last day, this small group were discussing how to implement the Kanban into their own work environment. This was most rewarding as they experienced real world Kanban AND they received the tools they need to pass the exam.
