I’m extremely disappointed with Expedia and would caution anyone considering booking through them—especially when paying extra for flexibility.I bought round-trip tickets for my parents, specifically choosing a non-refundable outbound and a fully refundable return, paying $1,000 more just to allow them to extend their stay with us. That flexibility was the whole reason we booked through Expedia. When the time came to change the return date, Expedia told me there would be no refund, and even worse, quoted me $12,000 to change the return tickets by two months—despite the original return segment being fully refundable. Initially, one agent told me the change would cost around $3,000, but after escalating to a supervisor, that price quadrupled. All of this happened in a single phone call that lasted over 1.5 hours, and I got nowhere. To make it worse, Turkish Airlines changed the flight schedule multiple times (around 10) since we bought the tickets, yet Expedia still won’t honor a basic refund or change. Their system provides no way to compare different dates or fare classes—there’s no transparency, no real customer control.I received an email that simply blamed the airline and offered no resolution. I purchased this through Expedia, not Turkish Airlines, so Expedia is responsible, and they’ve clearly failed. This experience not only cost us time and money—it also robbed our family of two extra months with our parents, something that meant the world to us. Expedia appears to prioritize policies over people and provides no meaningful support when it matters most.I will never book with Expedia again and strongly advise others to reconsider. You’re left on your own when something goes wrong.
