The trip was very well organized. The food was delicious and nutritious. Lots of protein and carbs to provide us with energy. Snacks were refreshing and providing energy along the way. We were offered coco and tea to relax in the evening. Jhoan told us a lot about a history of the Lost City and indigenous people. The evening before ascending to the Lost City he told us how the city was discovered and preserved so people can now visit it and learn about it. The story was supported by visual aids - pictures, copies of artifacts and additional presentation of special speaker. Joan and John (the translator) very patiently answered a lot of questions. The trek is hard and I stayed behind along with my friend but there was always a guide with us. I felt taken care of safe and supported. When you are tired sometimes a small gesture means a lot… Jhoan gave me sturdy bamboo walking stick, Lorena made a plant tattoo on my arm, John brought me a cup of tea…..The trek was our 30 year wedding anniversary gift to ourselves and I can’t think about celebrating it differently. It was one in a lifetime experience!Tips: have a walking stick- it helps you to keep the balance and supports going down a hill and only pack essentials.
