Popping by here to give a review, because giving authentic reviews is what I do. I’m an express rewards member online, and I always have been, but I have never actually been to the physical store, I’ve only seen it, as I prefer online shopping more. I order from Express online, so I’ve never gotten an accurate experience with the store before, until recently. I ordered online, and decided to pick up my items at a local mall, to save on shipping. As soon as I walked into the store, I couldn’t even look around or anything, I was in there for 2 seconds, and a employee bombarded me with a question. She rudely asked me did I need help with something. She also was looking at me as if I was lost, and in the wrong place. With her rudely asking if I needed help, I was in a paralyzing moment of shock. I continued to stand in shock, and she asked me again (with a persistent attitude) “can I help you with something”?????? After snapping back into reality I finally told her what I was there for, and showed her my ID and everything to pick up my orders. Nothing is wrong with asking someone if they need help, if the intentions are PURE OF HEART. Her tone of voice was rude, and condescending, she wanted me out of that store quickly, I know being brown in this country is illegal, but I hate being reminded of it. In my honest opinion, I think someone in the store saw me walk in, and alerted her via headpiece, or walkie talkie, because she was in front of me in 2 seconds flat. I would not be surprised if this store had a code word for when brown people entered it, but you guys are not ready for that conversation. Anyways, I couldn’t even decide if I wanted to buy something in store, because she wanted me out of there quickly. This is just another display of racial profiling, and it is absolutely sad. Luckily for me I have tough skin, and I am not a huge fan of confrontation, but I can not say that I was not saddened, and disappointed by the experience. I definitely let people know about this experience, because it should not be occurring in 2020. This store is located in the Altamonte Mall in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She may have been the manager, because she seemed to be on her high horse. She’s a blonde haired woman. Hopefully someone can pass the message on to her that it costs absolutely nothing to be kind to someone! If you’re a person of color, I suggest you shop elsewhere where your money is appreciated, and you are not treated like you’re lost in a store, or going to steal something, because that’s how I felt. You also can always support a nicer business, or a business owned by a person of color, I’m sure they would be happy for your business. I wanted to share this experience, because people should know! If I could have given this store a zero, I would have.
