We booked a hotel for an out of town sporting event in June of 2025 through hotelplanner.com and purchased the protection plan because the event date in October was close to our Daughter's pregnancy due date. Her water broke the day before our scheduled stay so we couldn't attend the event. We called the booking company immediately and they confirmed that the request for coverage was valid but we had to call fanshield to get the protection claim filed.
When you call fanshield, the auto attendant doesn't allow you to talk to anybody. Furthermore, it directs you to their website or directs you to send an email to help through their website fanshield.com. Email was sent requesting a list of what was needed to file a claim. They sent an email back with a link to go step by step as well as a link to get a refund on the they amount I paid just for the coverage. They didn’t provide a list of what was needed to file a claim successfully. The link takes you through requestmyrefund.com and the step by step doesn’t contain a list of specific items needed to support your claim. “Just upload your supporting documentation” which is what? I’m now dealing with three websites to file a claim, as well as a company called Protecht, Inc that services this company’s refund program.
I filed the documentation and received an email back saying that I needed to provide them with a birth certificate. I sent the birth certificate which took over a month to get. I then received an email back saying they needed additional information after the previous email saying they just needed a birth certificate. They said I needed to provide a copy of a doctor’s exam showing that my daughter gave birth which is a HIPPA Law issue. After I questioned this request, they then sent another email saying the claim is denied because my daughter gave birth on the 16th and the trip with the hotel stay was on the 17th. Total disregard for the fact that the baby was born at 10pm and the hotel stay was an 8 hour drive away and she didn’t get to go home from the hospital for 3 days. This is where I stopped.
It’s now clear to me that this company has no intention of ever paying out a claim. They can’t provide a list of what’s needed, they don’t provide any forms to be filed out by a doctor even though their refund terms say their refund representative will provide the “forms to be used in filing proof of a refund request”, and you can’t talk to anybody over the phone. This group of companies appear to be in concert with each other to scam people out of their money through deception and delays. Please avoid them at all cost. Again, it’s hotelplanner.com, fansheild.com, requestmyrefund.com and Protecht, Inc that services this company’s refund program that seem to be working together to scam people out of their money.
