I am absolutely terrified of flying and have been since being a child. I last flew on a plane 24 years ago and finally decided to take the plunge and try the course to see if it would help me. In short, the Fearless Flyer course is fabulous. I would really recommend it to anyone thinking of facing their fear of flying - the online section of the course is really informative, offering practical advice as well as lots of ways to manage anxiety snd fear. It also has an extensive section where a pilot explains the noises and feelings you may experience, as well as topics such as turbulence and how the plane stays in the air. I felt really informed after finishing all the modules. There is then a zoom meeting with the course providers which includes a pilot who will also give you a running commentary during the flight. Ours was Ken and he was brilliant! I found the meeting so helpful and supportive and it really prepared me for the experience flight which took place a few days later.The day of the flight I was so afraid, I really was. When we arrived at the airport, we met Mark and Ken and two wonderful cabin crew who put our minds at rest. They explained fully what the procedure was at the airport, and then took time to listen to how everyone was feeling while answering any questions we had. We then moved to the gate to wait for our flight. Once on board, every care was taken to support us all and to keep us informed with what was to happen. Ken stayed in the cabin and took us through what was happening throughout our flight which was very reassuring. All the staff were informal and friendly and I felt very well supported by everyone. I have to admit I found take off challenging but when we were airborne, Mark the course leader really took the time to talk to me, listen to my fears and helped me to manage my feelings. This support and advice meant that I was able to land with a really positive mind set and actually was able to look out of the window as we landed back at Manchester! I genuinely couldn’t believe I had actually flown! I can’t thank everyone who looked after me and the other passengers enough. I would definitely recommend the Fearless Flyer to anyone who feels they could do with some help regarding flying. Everyone is so lovely - do it, you won’t regret it!
