My husband and I attempted to buy a home through a platform in Deland, Florida. Initially, we tried their Service Link, but it indicated the auction was cancelled on January 4th. We then participated in the auction starting January 5th, bidding $200,000 and placing a $10,000 deposit. The next morning, the auction unexpectedly ended a few hours early. We later discovered that the owner had filed for bankruptcy, rendering the auction illegal. Despite this, the platform continues to accept offers on the property, which is against the law. I learned this as I plan to buy the house out of bankruptcy. The platform still allows offers through their app, and when I called, they confirmed I could make an offer, but it could take a while for a response. However, they cannot legally accept any bids. We are still waiting for our $10,000 refund, and it appears to be quite difficult to recover. I also saw another property listed for offers that was sold on 11/15/25, which they cannot legally sell either. I will report this to the local regulatory department and have contacted the owner and their lawyer. I might even consider legal action myself. Services like this should not be allowed to deceive customers.
