Under the European legislation EC 261, passengers are entitled to receive up to €600 flight cancellation compensation. When Finnair cancelled my flight at the gates on 14 of Sep, 2024 (despite having extra seats in the business class, we saw it on the staff screens), they said the compensation would be provided. To get that, I had to spend weeks unnecessarily talking with a Finnair bot who would not allow me to escalate the case to a real customer support representative. When it finally happened, real customer support kept closing my case without a resolution. And then Finnair's case system had bugs that prevented me from logging into the system and providing the info needed for the refund. So I had to go through the bot again. Overall, it took 2 months back and forth with Customer Support & Bot in order to get a refund of €100. My recommendation is to avoid Finnair, and if possible, use other means of transport - like trains, ferries, etc. - much less stressful.
