A brand charging luxury prices needs to be held to luxury standards — and right now, Flannels is falling well short of that.
There have been widely reported and credible allegations of counterfeit designer goods being sold through Flannels — including fake Moncler jackets, Saint Laurent belts, and Gucci sandals. These aren't one-off complaints; they go back years and cover multiple product categories. When journalists contacted Flannels about this, they declined to comment. That silence is not good enough when customers are spending hundreds or thousands of pounds trusting that what they're buying is genuine.
For those of us in Northern Ireland, the situation is even more frustrating. The only Flannels presence here is a single floor inside the Belfast Frasers store. That is not a Flannels experience — it's a concession. There's no standalone store, no proper investment, and no sign that Northern Ireland customers are being taken seriously. The in-store restaurant that used to exist in Belfast closed during Covid and has never come back, which just adds to the feeling that this region has been completely deprioritised.
Flannels could genuinely be something great, especially in a region with very limited premium retail options. But until the counterfeit concerns are addressed transparently and Northern Ireland gets a proper presence, I can't recommend shopping here.
