Flickr Ruined My Blog

Flickr, how do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways.I used Flickr to link to photos in my blog. BAD IDEA. First, they didn't have the basic tools like making a collage that Google Photos had but they offered 1 tb free, so we hopped on board. We also didn't like the way the photos linked in the blog. But, we thought, OK, we'll use it for now, and maybe change it when we finish traveling.A couple of months later, Flickr "announces" the 1000 images policy. Very quietly. I almost missed it. So now, we have to go through our blog and figure out which to delete and which to keep. We are traveling in a developing country, and don't have access to the internet on a regular basis. We are on an island. So we rush and do the best we can, we had so much there from our travels. Yes, we stupidly didn't have a backup, but were planning to do that when we got back in around 9 months. Well, we accidentally deleted many of the photos from the blog. It was difficult to keep track, and in our flurry to try to save some, we lost many. We should have backed up. We could have paid Flickr their extortion money. But we didn't. We thought we could trust them while travelling. This is not technically Flickr's fault, but the short window in which we had to work and being on an island made it suck. Flickr made it really hard to tell which photos were linked to the blog and which weren't. The public or private didn't work for us because all of our photos are public. So my biggest beef with the company is that they told us we had 1 tb, then renegged, but didn't give us adequate time, and we almost missed the notice it was so, let's say, discrete. We could keep our stuff if we paid them, which we couldn't do on principle. We already didn't like them. So, Flickr, I really despise you. My blog is ruined and it is to a large degree because I used your "service". I think Flickr will fail, but hopefully a more trustworthy and honest company will fill the niche. I don't know how anyone can use this service with confidence after this type of a move. It's a terrible way to treat your customers.
