Unethical Business Practices & Pixsy AssociationI’ve been using Flickr for years, but recently, my experience has soured due to what appears to be their close association with Pixsy – a company that seems to operate in a highly questionable manner.Flickr seems to be a front for Pixsy's aggressive tactics. Out of nowhere, I started receiving harassing emails from Pixsy, and was refused the option to check in directly with Alex Proimos the photographer. As Pixsy is not an Aussie company and because their approach felt very scammy, I thought it prudent to check in with the photographer. At the time of writing this I still have not been able to validate his identity. I have asked Alex to call me directly. The tone of the communication was threatening, more like a bully extorting money rather than a company protecting intellectual property. It felt like an attempt to shake people down for money rather than really supporting the photographers. It's extremely disappointing that Flickr, a platform once beloved for sharing and discovering photography, is seemingly enabling this kind of behaviour. It's put a damper on what used to be an enjoyable experience. If you're thinking of using Flickr, be prepared to deal with the shady and aggressive practices of Pixsy.
