I cannot recommend Forbes as dealing with this firm was not a satisfactory experience. My mother sadly passed away on 28th February 2019. My sister and I were joint executors and my sister elected to instruct Forbes as it is near her home in Blackburn. I live in Kent. The voice of the receptionist who answers the phone is infuriating and. She should remember that people call a solicitor to have a grown up conversation. I requested that the initial meeting with the solicitor was a conference call, but this didn’t happen and I was excluded. My sister received a letter expressing condolences, but this courtesy was not extended to me. I had to ask five times to be sent an original of my mother’s death certificate. I think this was completely unacceptable. My mother’s original Will was damaged when it reached the probate office and had to be returned to the original solicitor’s office. Eventually this matter was only dealt with when I repeatedly chased it up myself. On a few occasions I requested a conversation with the line manager or a senior partner to voice my concerns, but I was only given access to a secretary. There was no property to be sold, no money in stocks and shares and no IHT due. This process, nevertheless has taken over 2 years and 2 months to complete which has resulted in affecting family relationships and more recently my health.
