Had to deal with these people today. Just horrible. My father in law 83 used the local esso garage put £35 petrol in his car bought a paper and went to pay gave the man his details and paid using contactless with his debit card. Despite giving the cashier the pump number they didn’t charge him for his fuel but as he paid using contactless and didn’t get a receipt the first he know that he didn’t pay for his fuel is when he gets a threatening letter. He was very upset as you would expect and immediately went back to said garage to pay. No you have to deal with forecourt eye who also charge a £35 admin fee despite this being the garages fault. I phoned on his behalf but all you get is basically pay up or it escalates to debt recovery firm who will take you to county court. I would have liked the day in court but you can’t be certain where the county court will be it could be in Liverpool or London? The lady I spoke to would not give any information at all I was quite cross but respectfull I did not swear I explained our position calmly but firmly she was of no use whatsoever it’s pay up or go to court.I’m trying to persuade my father in law to take them or the garage to the small claims court for the admin fee.
