Waited in all day for a 10am-2pm appointment, which the automated machine the day previously told me was actually 8am and I am the first customer...engineer arrived at 330pm, not his fault of course just poor scheduling I assume but waste of my day, nice professional guy though.
Was then quoted over £500 for new cables and cones, £20 in parts and it's a 30 minute job for a professional, that's an hourly labour rate of close to £1000, shocking but im assuming most customers are older middle class types who just say yes when someone prompts them with a price, much like how locksmiths charge people £300 for a £12 lock. Normally I research any purchase but assumed as it's such a basic job any company will do.
Had a local place quote me £150 since, which is still a healthy profit for them for what's at most an hour's job.
Company is well polished and their booking system etc worked well and the engineer was a nice guy but I waited in all day and had no updates until after the scheduled time and that update was that he will be there in an hour (was longer). Not that I was bothered by that, any quoted time will normally be best case scenario.
I never write reviews and I don't actually care about this one, I'm just shocked that I'm being quoted £500+ for what's essentially bread and butter repair work. Clearly predatory pricing that probably works 80% of the time as your average Brit has no spine and I imagine lots of customers with garages are somewhat middle class and over 50.
If you don't mind being ripped off then crack on, was a time and a place where I probably would have agreed with them just to get it done but knowing people who had the same jobs done in recent years and paying £100-150 I just couldn't swallow it.
