I've had a great experience both buying and selling on GearFocus. If I had one complaint, it would be that since it's not yet a well-known marketplace, traffic can be a little low. So if you need to sell your gear fast, you may need to list it somewhere else and deal with the scams that entails. Another small complaint is that I wish they followed up with the buyer to collect reviews. There are quite a few buyers who come to the site for just one specific item and then once they purchase it, they never log in again.Some of the other reviewers seem to not understand how gearfocus works. Yes, they do require you to prove who you are (this seriously reduces the chances of getting scammed), but then they hold your funds in escrow until the seller ships and the buyer receives the item (with a reasonable time window in case the buyer forgets to indicate the item was received. Short of only meeting people in person to sell your gear, this system works pretty well to protect the buyer and the seller.
