I purchased a 24kw whole house generator and planned on hooking it up after we moved in. Unfortunately a hurricane decided to head toward the house when I was on vacation and the day before it hit I returned. My kind electrician called and said that it looked like we were going to hit and he could hook up the generator that day. He tested it for 30 minutes and everything is great. The next day we lost electricity and the system seamlessly switched over. Unfortunately the oil system lines were held together with factory installed compression fittings that failed. We immediately shut down the system and my electrician came and changed the factory installed compression fittings to screw down fittings and the system was restarted. GENERAC reviewed the pictures and told me to have a Generac Certified Electrician check it which I did and they determined it was no longer leaking. Generac refuses to pay for either service call. This was a factory systems failure. I’m very disappointed with their customer service. We prevented the ceasing of the motor by identifying the problem early and correcting it.
