Recently (5/5/2023) had Quality Electric come out to install my Generac 6852 Home Link Upgradeable Transfer Switch Kit, 30 Amp that I purchased off of Amazon last June. The money to install it was quite a chunk but it seemed to be worth it to make sure it was done correctly. Mark, the Electrician, got it setup but the light on the face plate of the transfer was not lighting up to indicate either Utility or generator power and the manufactures installed toggle was not allowing the deactivation of one power source and the activation of the new one. Mark got generac support on the line. The generac basically said that the toggle and the light are not supposed to work for my model? Huh. Why are they there? Generac said that the route to go with my model every time I wanted to activate a new a power source I should unscrew the four corner screws on the face plate and reach in there and flip a black manual on the inside. That seemed like a valid 'emergency' use workaround, but that's it. The regular toggle after many years of use might go bad and that is a good secondary option to have. No more. Generac also suggest to Mark that if taking the plate each time was not suitable that Mark could just drill a hole in the face place so a tool could be used to activate the other toggle without unscrewing the face plate each time. I lean towards thinking that that action would void any and every warranty, etc associated to my Transfer Switch. If Generac wanted a hole drilled in the face place of their transfer switch face place I feel like they would have done during the manufacturing process. This is disgraceful.
