I purchased a Generac 6500 portable generator in December 2022 after our old Generac 4000 XL died. In less than 12 hours of run time the unit not only failed, but also produced surges damaging the induction motor of our furnace and the controllers of our whirlpool. The dealer where I purchased the unit ran tests at Generac’s request and found the unit defective. They even refunded my money for the generator. I filed a request for reimbursement from Generac for the damaged items in my home. 3 weeks of stalling and requests from their resolution department “leadership team” for information that had already been provided to them resulted in my filing suit in NH small claims court. I find it unacceptable that a business puts out a defective product (documented by their own dealer’s testing) then does not take responsibility for the damages it causes. I would NEVER buy a Generac product again, and I suggest people think twice before doing so.
