I was transferred to General Services Limited after calling what I now know to be a locksmith call switch board after locking myself out of my flat. The locksmith stated he couldn't get into the lock after only briefly attempting to open it using a screwdriver between the door and the frame and said the only way to get in was drilling the lock out. He then proceeded to drill the lock after not telling me the total price and charged me £616 to replace the lock cylinder. I was repeatedly told to not worry about the cost because I would be able to claim the money back from my landlord's home insurance. I know now that this is a false claim and a common scam used to fool people into accepting overpriced locksmith services. The price I was charged was significantly higher than any price on their own website, or the prices quoted by trusted locksmiths. I am a young woman who visibly distressed which I think contributed to being taken advantage of.
