My son bought a Golf mk6 in June 2017 for 17k with 35,000 miles on the clock, the dealer as a matter of course offers 12 month gold warranty with most of their sales I believe if not all of them. However in February of this year he noticed clutch slip in third, fourth and fifth gear he contacted me and asked me to drive the car and give him an opinion. The car was slipping and we contacted the claims line to get the ball rolling and find out if it was covered, yes it was said the guy on the phone. So we followed instructions to get an apraisal/diagnosis and the technician confirmed what we suspected. We were charged 69 pounds for the pleasure and the very reputable garage liased on our behalf with AA warrantys, their response was that yes they cover the work up to a 1,000 pound max.Although they stipulated photographic evidence would be required, not a problem both pictures and a videos sent revealed a failed flywheel which in turn flatspotted the clutch itself. After laying out 1,150 for the work on Monday 23rd April 18 was informed that they wouldn't be paying a penny as it was deemed wear and tear, what a joke....the components of any car can fail with age so what's the point of a warranty when mechanical failure occurs and someone's opinion dismisses a claim. This car has done barely 5k miles in 10 months and my son Is over 1200 quid out of pocket, when really the safety net of warranty has totally let him down.Avoid,Avoid,Avoid.I have spoken with the FCA and taken a case number and will proceed to the ombudsmen today and then to the Citizens advice Bureau to highlight this bogus scamming of motorists.UPDATE 1/5/2018I replied to your response the very same day, dear oh dear your customer service really is poor when you cant liase between depts.(IN RESPONSE TO AA CUSTOMER SERVICE)
