I was given several quotes for van insurance on Go Compare and decided to go with Vans Insurance Experts, also known as Broker Experts Limited. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and I would advise others to be cautious.
I initially accepted a quote of £900 and made the payment. However, only a few minutes later I received a call from their advisor stating that after “additional checks” the premium had increased to £1,100. As this was significantly higher than the price I had agreed to, I told them it was too expensive and asked for the policy to be cancelled.
The advisor said the policy could be cancelled but that I would be charged a £125 cancellation fee. I explained that I was cancelling because the price they had advertised and taken payment for was not being honoured. In my view, if a company changes the price immediately after payment, customers should have the right to cancel without being penalised.
Instead of showing any understanding or acknowledging the situation, the staff member was rude and aggressive. The whole experience left me feeling misled and very frustrated.
I chose this company through GoCompare expecting reputable and professional insurers to be listed. Sadly, this experience has made me question that assumption.
