I took my wife and two sons to Heddon Street Kitchen. It was a special treat for my youngest as he loves GR and has had a really tough year with his health. We arrived a little early but was welcomed and quickly seated. The food was grossly overpriced. Two of us ordered Scallops in their shells at £15 each. We were served two tiny scallops each! More of an amuse-bouche than a starter and not great in taste. My youngest ordered the beef wellington for 2. At £120 I was expecting a real gastronomic experience but sadly it was bland at best even with the accompanying jus. Everything lacked seasoning. We also waited almost an hour and a quarter for our main. The waiter kept bringing us bottles of water that we didn’t order to fill the void and had the cheek to charge £6.50 a bottle!!Halfway through the meal a couple were sat at the table next to us with their two dogs!! I love dogs but was a bit surprised this was even allowed. The bill came with a discretionary service charge at 15% which translated into nearly £50. I almost always leave a tip at restaurants but I just couldn’t bring myself to leave one.Sadly a very disappointing experience.
