Our gorilla safari in Uganda was truly the trip of a lifetime. From the moment we landed and were met by Ben at Entebbe airport, every detail had been taken care of and the Travel Key app they use meant that we could easily check any aspect of our itinerary at any time on our phones. Ben, our guide/driver, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, professional yet warm and friendly. We are glad we drove to Bwindi one way (and flew the other) to experience the Ugandan countryside and villages, go through the Equator and drive ourselves out of a very muddy multi-vehicle traffic jam! Ben was a hero, keeping us safe and comfortable at all times as well as helping others. We also had a couple of game drives on the way, which was an unexpected surprise, so saw many more animals than just the gorillas.The gorilla trekking itself in Bwindi Natl Park was absolutely incredible - seeing these magnificent creatures up close in their natural habitat is something we'll never forget. Beautiful lodges, delicious meals, and opportunities to explore more of Uganda’s vibrant culture with optional activities rounded out an extraordinary 4 days.In planning the trip, though Amanda from Gorilla Safari Company was in the UK and we in New Zealand on the other side of the world, she was always available for questions and made sure every detail was covered, including special little touches for our wedding anniversary.
