I paid for Grace Removals to relocate me from Melbourne to Auckland in December 2019 for a new job with Regional Facilities Auckland, shipment ref 1560838. Although I paid for my own container at the advice of Melbourne Agent Vlad Kovacevic so my shipment would get expedited and would not risk confusion, my goods did not arrive until mid-February. I liked Vlad, and I chose Grace over a cheaper quote (from Pickfords). The delivery guys at the Auckland end were outsourced by Grace to Smart Express and overloaded the lift in my apartment block, leaving me with a broken lift, angry neighbors and the job only partly done. I paid $ 600 to find emergency replacement labour with the abandoned boxes and Grace accepted no responsibility. After unpacking I discovered entire boxes containing valuable computer and electronic equipment, works of art and silk shirts missing. I have tried not be suspicious and to give the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they had been mislaid somewhere? No one replies to my enquiries. And now of course Grace can invoke Covid, but it looks to me like the problem is theft and/or incompetence pre Covid and no one is prepared to speak with me or admit anything. I will continue to try to locate my missing property on my own via Customs. The experience has clouded my first six months in New Zealand. I just can't believe how awful they have been.
