When i took out a policy I never expected to make a claim. When diagnosed with cancer I had to cancel my travel plans for the year. The company did payout, but the two things that annoyed me were the excess charges (made per person - even though we were travelling as a family and if i didn’t go then my family didn’t go) and the time it took to pay out. Yes maybe in the small print it states an excess per person but I didn't see it. Also my son then went on holiday but couldn't use the policy as he wasn't travelling with us. So to me we were one family - one excess.
