We had a fabulous time on Crete. Katerina was a splendid person to work with to setup the trip. She was most helpful even when I was making bone-headed mistakes! The Knossos tour and guide were just perfect for our party and we thought the guide was the highlight of the trip. This is saying something from one of us who was a director of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC ( and a trained Biblical Archeologist) and another who taught Art and Ancient History for 30 years. I have a great picture of the pair in discussion with our guide at the Heraklion Archeological Museum in front of the famous dolphin display.The Wine tasting tour was also excellent. We ended up buying two cases of wine and had them shipped back home. On our free days, we booked additional tours which allowed us to explore the many wonders of Crete. I did an Off-road Safari tour that was little short of amazing -- taking the back roads of Crete to end up at the cave of Zeus. I have many many pictures! You should explore this as part of your trip plan to see Crete. We also did an architectural tour of Reythmno that was outstanding. We loved the old Venetian town and would love to come back and stay in one of the boutique hotels there. The Legacy Gastro Suites hotel was perfect. We enjoyed how close it was to shopping and downtown. The food at its cafe was excellent. In fact we never had a bad meal on Crete. As for shopping, near the Heraklion Archeological Museum we found the Irida Family Workshop(www dot irdashop dot com) with superb art objects celebrating the history of Crete. The people of Crete were very friendly the food and wine were outstanding. We had a great time and Katerina to thank for it. One of the interesting events was that we ran into the woman taxi driver who met us at the Heraklion airport to take us to the Hotel on our arrival as we were getting out of the taxi at the Airport to depart for Athens. She remembered us and came up and asked us how was our stay. Amazingly nice people on Crete and a superb way to spend a week!So, in summary we had a great time on Crete and Katerina to thank for it.
