I have been a regular customer of Headmasters, both in Harrow and Reading, and have generally had satisfactory experiences in the past. However, my recent visit to the Reading salon was deeply disappointing and has led me to decide not to return.I had booked an appointment for my 2-year-old son’s first haircut — a special and somewhat delicate moment for any parent. We arrived five minutes late, and the stylist, Lucy, made a point of saying, "You are late though." I asked if that was an issue, and she said "no," but still felt the need to emphasize it. I found this unnecessary, especially considering I’ve often waited patiently in the past when they were running behind schedule without ever complaining.Additionally, I had clearly mentioned while booking that both my husband and I would be present, as our son is quite active and needs both of us to help calm and distract him during the haircut. Despite this, another staff member asked one of us to leave, citing that the salon was crowded. This felt inconsiderate and dismissive, particularly for a young child’s very first haircut.Given the lack of empathy, inflexibility, and the generally unwelcoming attitude during our visit, I requested all future appointments be cancelled. I will not be returning, and I will not recommend Headmasters to friends or family.Headmasters needs to show more understanding and warmth, especially when dealing with young children and their parents. First haircuts should be memorable for the right reasons — not for being made to feel unwelcome and judged.
