This was a poor experience. My appointment was cancelled due to staffing issues 2 minutes before the start time, and I’d already travelled 30+ mins from home to be there. I understand people get poorly, but 2 minutes notice wasn’t great.I then rerouted to another centre 1 hour away, where the procedure wasn’t great. A trainee/new staff member was running the session, and unfortunately I was left with a blown vein following blood draw. This is the first time it’s ever happened, and seems it’s a technique issue rather than a me issue (from subsequent medical follow up it’s likely over penetration through the back of the vein due to poor insertion angle). I also realised after leaving and seeing the items remaining in the blood draw kit that the site wasn’t cleansed and sterilised prior to needle insertion.
