I went to Hirschs to buy a strong vacuum cleaner. I was sold a cordless one. To me, it didn't matter as long as its strong. I had the appliance for 4 days. when I eventually tried it. The vacuum lasted for 15 minutes at its highest function. It then needs to charged for 4 hours. So one cannot really use this efficiently. I took it back. having had it for 4 days, having used it for 15 minutes. I was told they will be charging me 30 percent handling fee. This was not told to me upfront. they then reduced it to 20 percent as long as I bought another vacuum. This fee seems a bit much and unfair as it is not properly disclosed at time of sale.Doing the actual return was so unpleasant too! I mentioned this to M Hirsch (regarding the handling fee) and she replied promptly, which I found very impressive, but then I never received further feedback.I had to replace my fridge last week - so I went to Tafelberg. I will also be buying a washing machine soon and I will not go back to Hirschs, even though it is the closest to my house and most convenient for me. I will no longer support them.
