The conveyancer appointed by HLD has disappeared and is now being investigated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority. The firm stopped trading after 5-months of working on the sale and only days before my buyer wanted to move in. I have had to appoint a new conveyancer and restart the process again. Home Legal Direct has refused to return my payment to them as 'a refund is no longer available to you as your cooling off period has expired'.This indicates poor due diligence by HLD when appointing legal firms and also poor customer service in resolving serious client issues. To summarise HLD invoiced me for £296.00 to appoint a legal firm and now take no responsibility or liability for doing this or the potential loss of my buyer due to delays caused by the legal firm stopping trading just days before the sale was due to go through?
